A friend of mine is getting married at the end of the year. They chose to have a simple celebration and only family and some of their close friends are invited. I love simple weddings and destination weddings. I am sure if they can afford to have a wedding at Riviera Maya, they would. Who wouldn't? It already has the ambience without even trying. The honeymoon can take place right there and then. They do not have to go anywhere else. The place is perfect for honeymooners.
Theirs is going to be a beach wedding too. If we could do it all over again, I know my husband will prefer to have a beach wedding. I would too. Nothing is more romantic than having a wedding by the beach.

I agree with you! I think destination weddings are fabulous! I have never seen one personally, only in pictures. At the same time, however, coming from a big family, I don't know if I'd be able to go through with one. I think I'd need to have my Great Aunt Mary yelling that my hair wasn't perfect, my Great Uncle William making fun of his sister Mary behind her back, and my cousins and I laughing about it in my mother's bathroom. I guess it just depends on how close you are to your family and how big of a family you have. My sister's brother in law actually did a destination wedding and then came home for a big reception with all his family. So, I guess even both could work.
